He said J&K has a potential of producing 13-14 thousand MW clean and environment-friendly energy for which he said, all the efforts would be channelized.

Modi said J&K is on the path of development and progress and he visualized many big mile stones in coming day.

He also announced upgradation of local Kendraya Vidalya from High School to Higher Secondary School for which admissions would be starting from the coming session.

J&K Governor N. N. Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Union Minister

Earlier in the day, Modi flagged off a 25 km long Udhampur- Katra railway link by giving the green signal for the Vaishno Devi Express (which he suggested to rechristen as Shreeshakti Express), which would take commuters and pilgrims to the base camp of Vaishno Devi at Katra now on.

However, Modi's visit to the Kashmir Valley observed a complete shutdown on Friday on call of separatists.

Shops, educational institutions, public transport and other businesses remained closed in Srinagar and other major towns of the Valley in response to the separatist call
