Kashmir is an internal issue of India, no room for any other country or Pakistan to interfere: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Aug 28 (IBNS): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that Kashmir is an 'internal issue' of India and there is no room for any other country, including Pakistan, to interfere in it.

"I disagree with this Govt. on many issues. But, let me make this absolutely clear: Kashmir is India’s internal issue & there is no room for Pakistan or any other foreign country to interfere in it," Gandhi tweeted.

Gandhi said Jammu and Kashmir is facing violence as it is supported by Pakistan.

"There is violence in Jammu & Kashmir. There is violence because it is instigated and supported by Pakistan which is known to be the prime supporter of terrorism across the world," he said.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday is all set to hear a batch of petitions that are challenging the Centre's decision of scrapping Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

The Supreme Court will also hear petitions that are seeking to remove the restrictions.

A three-judge bench is likely to hear the petitions.

It is headed by Chief Justice of India Justice Ranjan Gogoi.

Justices SA Bobde and S Abdul Nazeer are the other judges in the bench.

Kashmir issue:

The Indian government scrapped the Article 370 which provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

The government bifurcated Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir with an assembly and Ladakh without an assembly.

Article 35A of the Indian Constitution allowed the Jammu and Kashmir state's legislature to define “permanent residents” of the state and also provided special rights and privileges to those permanent residents.

Article 370 allowed Jammu and Kashmir to have its own constitution, flag and right to handle its own laws except on matters that impact national security.

The decision had further escalated tension between India and Pakistan in recent times.
