Srinagar, Jun 2 (UNI) Suspected militants on Sunday lobbed a grenade at the residence of former National Conference (NC) legislature in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.

This is the second grenade attack on a politician during the last less than 24 hours in Pulwama district.

Official sources said that suspected militants hurled a grenade at the residence of Ghulam Mohidin Mir at Murran in Pulwama. However, they said the grenade missed the target and exploded outside the compound wall of the residence.

They said no one was injured in the incident, adding security guards deployed at the residence of the politician fired few shots in the air. “The suspected militants managed to escape from the spot,” they said, adding security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers.

Suspected militants lobbed a grenade at the residence of Congress leader Omar Jan at Pinglana in Pulwama in the wee hours of Sunday when people were busy in special prayers on the occasion of Shab-i-Qadr.
