Kashmir encounter: Top Lashkar commander killed

Srinagar, Jan 19 (IBNS): A militant was killed and an SOG man injured in an encounter in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday, police said.

An official said that army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the Parr Mohalla locality of Hajin after specific inputs about the presence of militants.

He said that militants opened fire at the forces, triggering an encounter.

A militant, identified as Abu Musaib, was killed in the operation while another militant managed to escape, said the official.

He said that Musaib was the operational commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba in Bandipora district.

An SOG man, identified as Vikas Sharma was injured in the shootout.

He has been hit by a bullet on left side below chest.
