Srinagar/IBNS: Kashmir Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kuar Mehta Tuesday reviewed the centrally sponsored schemes (CSSs) of  Housing & Urban Development- AMRUT, Swacch Bharat Mission and PM Svanidhi, as they are nearing saturation point.

The review followed an advisory from the Centre regarding speeding up the implementation of the CSSs which are nearing saturation within the pre-set timelines so that the benefits of these schemes are passed on to the people of J&K.

It was informed in the meeting that the AMRUT scheme was launched in the year 2015 for providing basic services like water supply, sewerage, urban transport to households and building amenities to improve the quality of life.

Further, the meeting informed that initially 91 projects for 5 cities of J&K- Jammu, Srinagar, Anantnag, Leh and Kargil were approved for an allocation of Rs 593 crore.

After the reorganisation of the erstwhile state of J&K, 83 projects have been approved and out of these projects the total allocation is Rs 513.13 crore for 74 projects, while 9 projects have been taken up under savings in the state share and reforms incentives.

Principal Secretary of H&UD informed that 62 projects have been completed at an aggregate expenditure of Rs. 394.55 crore.
