Jammu/UNI: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Apr 24 visit in Samba, security forces on Friday eliminated two terrorists during a fierce gunfight in Sunjuwan area of Jammu.

The terror attack came early morning when a bus ferrying troopers of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was ambushed around 4.25 am.

Following which, one assistant sub inspector was killed in the ensuing gun battle and around six others were injured.

Two terrorists were killed in the operation, confirmed Mukesh Singh, ADGP Jammu Zone.

He said that one satellite phone, two AK 47 rifles, and heavy ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site.

"We have not yet called off the operation and searches are going on," said the ADGP.

"The two terrorists are reportedly of Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit and might have been engaged in fidayeen attack in Jammu ahead of Prime Minister's public rally in Palli, Samba," official sources earlier said.

A grenade was lobbed at the bus ferrying the CISF men near Chaddha Camp in Jalalabad area of Sunjuwan.

Then the militants opened fire.

"The CISF personnel retaliated effectively to the firing on the bus forcing the militants to run away. Then the area was cordoned off and a gun fight began between the holed up militants and the security forces," a CISF official said.

The slain ASI has been identified as SP Patel, while those injured include Head Constable Balraj Singh of Jammu police, SPO Sahil Sharma and two jawans of CISF - Parmod Patra of Odisha and Amir Soran of Assam.

All the injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment.

The operation is still underway.

Jammu Chief Education Officer ordered closure of 10 schools near the encounter site as a precautionary measure.

Mobile internet facilities in adjoining areas were also snapped, said an official.

Modi is scheduled to address a public gathering on Panchayati Raj Day on Saturday.
