Bengaluru/IBNS: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has stirred a row by making a slapping gesture at a police officer at his rally in Belagavi.

In a widely circulated video on social media, Siddaramaiah was seen visibly upset at the disruption at his rally and that led him to summon the additional superintendent of police.

Siddaramaiah pointed his finger and said, "Come here, who is the SP? What are you doing?"

As the cop arrives on stage, Siddaramaiah vented out his frustrations and made a slapping gesture at the police officer who was taken aback.

Slamming the Chief Minister, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT Cell head Amit Malviya wrote on X, " The Karnataka Police is a professional force, not Siddaramaiah’s private militia. How dare he raise his hand to slap a cop in uniform?

"He should be castigated for overstepping his authority as Chief Minister and should apologise to the officer on duty. Shameful."

The disruption was reportedly caused by a few women from the BJP who were raising slogans against the Congress government and CM Siddaramaiah.

Siddaramaiah, a senior Congress leader, faced the BJP ire after he said in the rally that India should not rush into war against Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack but focus on strengthening security measures.
