Bengaluru, Dec 29 (IBNS): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday convened a meeting of senior officials to review the security situation across the state ahead of the New Year celebrations, media reports said.

The high-level meeting was called after a blast killed a woman, identifies as Bhavani (38), and injured three men outside a restaurant in the heart of Bangalore on Sunday. The low-intensity blast took place at around 8:30 pm outside the popular Coconut Grove restaurant on Church Street off MG Road.

Karnataka home minister KJ George dubbed the incident as a “terror attack” though no one claimed responsibility of the blast as yet, sources said.

Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said the country’s top counter-terrorism wing National Investigation Agency (NIA) will probe into the Bengaluru blast.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted saying that he had spoken to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assuring that the Centre was “ready to provide all help”.

The CM also announced a compensation of Rs. five lakh for the kin of the woman killed in the low-intensity blast, reports said.
