Kamal Hasaan appeals to Kerala CM for cyclone help

Chennai, Nov 27 (IBNS): Actor-politician Kamal Haasan appealed to Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan to "rise above politics" and help the people of Tamil Nadu affected by the cyclone Gaja, said reports.

"Damage to crops, standing trees and boats is so extensive that the very source of life of our farmers and fishermen has been uprooted," Hassan, who leads the political party Makkal Needhi Maiam, said in a letter to Vijayan and sought Kerala's help to assist Tamil Nadu "stand up on its feet again".

Hasaan is known to have a good relationship with the Kerala chief minister.

Cyclone Gaja hit the Tamil Nadu coast on November 16 at 120kmph and left 63 people dead.

Over 76,000 people had been evacuated from the area.
