Kalikho Pul death: President of India and other leaders express condolence

New Delhi, Aug 9 (IBNS): President of India Pranab Mukherjee and many others have expressed their sorrow over the death of former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul on Tuesday.

In a message to the former CM's wife, Dangwimsai Pul, the President has said, “I am shocked and distressed to learn about the untimely demise of Shri Kalikho Pul. Words are difficult to give solace at this moment of deep loss to your family and you. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and convey the same to the rest of your family members. I pray to the Almighty to give you, and the other members of your family, the strength to bear this irreparable loss."

Pranab Mukherjee further said, "Kalikho Pul symbolized the hopes and aspirations of the youth of Arunachal Pradesh. He made significant contribution towards the welfare of the people of the State. In his death, we have lost a promising young leader who rose from a humble background and worked for the common man. His passing away is a loss for the State of Arunachal Pradesh and India."

Prime Minister's Office tweeted, "My thoughts are with the family & supporters of Kalikho Pul on his sad demise. His service to Arunachal Pradesh will be remembered: PM."

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley tweeted, "Saddened by the demise of Sh Kalikho Pul, Ex CM, Arunachal Pradesh. My condolences to the bereaved family. May God bless the departed soul."

Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh, Kiren Rijiju, who is also Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and is currently in Bali, Indonesia to attend an international meeting on counter terrorism, tweeted, "I'm shocked to hear the terrible news of the death of Kalikho Pul ji. Just landed at Bali. Will make best efforts to reach for last rites. Kalikho Pul ji will remain in the heart of the people of Arunachal Pradesh His untimely death is an irreparable loss."

Union Minister of Food & Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan, Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and many others have expressed their condolences.

Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Ind Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region, tweeted "Saddened to hear of untimely demise of former Arunachal CM."
