New Delhi: As elections are coming up in nine states, the BJP on Tuesday extended the tenure of JP Nadda as the party president till June 2024.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah made this announcement at the party's national executive.

JP Nadda's current tenure is scheduled to conclude on January 20, 2023.

The extension of JP Nadda's tenure means that the party will fight the next Lok Sabha polls under JP Nadda.

Lauding the role of Nadda at the helm of the party, Amit Shah said, "BJP performed well under Nadda ji in the elections in several states and strengthened it's organisation across India, including the northeast."

"Nadda's extension was proposed by Rajnath Singh, supported unanimously," Amit Shah said while addressing a press conference at NDMC in New Delhi.

"We are confident that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Nadda Ji, BJP will win with an even bigger majority in 2024 and once again Modi Ji will lead the nation as the PM," Shah said.

He said, "Under the leadership of JP Nadda, BJP workers had done exemplary work during the Covid pandemic.'

Talking about the performance of BJP in the elections, he said during his tenure the party had won 73 seats out of 103 seats in the by-elections in the last three years.

Meanwhile, JP Nadda on the first day of National Executive said that the party has to win all nine state elections this year and then general elections in 2024.
