Kolkata/IBNS: Kolkata/IBNS: BJP Working President JPP Nadda is leading a massive pro-CAA Abhinandan Rally in Kolkata where West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led a series of protest rallies against the Citizenship Amendment Law(CAA) last week.

Nadda is scheduled to address a public meeting in Shyambazar in North Kolkata where he will try to bust the "misconceptions" surrounding the amended citizenship law.

Mamata Banerjee has declared that both CAA and National Register of Citizens(NRC) will not be implemented in her state. However, the Calcutta High Court today ordered the state government to pull down all advertisements with the claim.

West Bengal witnessed massive CAA protests, especially in Murshidabad, Birbhum, North 24 Parganas and Howrah districts. Railway stations, buses and trains were burnt during the violent agitation.

The pro-CAA rally started from Hind Cinema crossing in Chandni Chowk area of Central Kolkata and will pass through Chittaranbjan Avenue and culminate in Shyam Bazar.

During the rally, BJP MP Roopa Ganguly told media that there was propaganda against CAA and it had been timed with the Jharkhand polls.

"All these lies, this vicious propaganda against CAA was a strategy to manipulate Jharkhand poll results," she replied when asked about her reaction over BJP's dismal performance in the Jharkhand Assembly elections.

Thousands of BJP activists joined the rally chanting slogans in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019.

Last Saturday, BJP had declared it would reach out to at least 3 crore people over the next 10 days to firefight the massive protests against CAA across the country.

According to an NDTV report, the outreach program will include hundreds of rallies and 250 press conferences.

The effort will be focused on clearing the "misconceptions" about the citizenship Amendment Act, the report added.

The country had been on the edge for almost two weeks as violent protests took place in various cities against the controversial CAA which will grant citizenship to Hindu, Christian, Buddhist, Jain, Sikh, Parsi but not Muslim refugees who came to India from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan before 2015.
