Joined TMC without conditions, no grievance against Sonia-Rahul: Sushmita Dev

New Delhi/IBNS: Congress-turned Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Sushmita Dev Tuesday said she joined the grand old party's offshoot without any condition.

In her first press conference as a TMC member, Dev said, "I have joined the TMC without any conditions whatsoever. It is because when a new relationship is built, it can be fostered only on trust and I have complete faith in Mamata Didi."

She said, "It is not yet 24 hours that I have joined TMC but as I have travelled through the length and breadth of West Bengal, I am extremely inspired by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's vision and development in Bengal."

Dev, however, didn't indulge herself into mudslinging, saying she had no "grievance" against Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and the party's de facto number two, Rahul Gandhi.

"I have written to Sonia Gandhi ji and sought her blessings. Congress has given me ample opportunities and there is not a single moment that I regret. I have no grievances against Sonia Gandhi ji and Rahul ji," she said.

On her terms with Mamata Banerjee, the former All India Mahila Congress president said, "My relation with Congress was for 30 years but I cannot deny the relationship with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Owing to the fact that my father was a former Union Minister, we (my family and I) have known her for 40 years."

Dev, who is believed to be the TMC's face in Tripura and Assam, said she would work for the organisation of the party.

"I am an organisation person. I have started my political career by managing the organisation. I’ll do the work that the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee and TMC national general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee assign. I am certain that I will contribute to making TMC's vision and mission stronger," she said.

Dev, the daughter of veteran Bengali Congress leader Santosh Mohan Dev, was an MLA from Silchar between 2011 and 2014 and she was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014.
