JNU violence: Delhi Police register FIR, Amit Shah speaks to LG Baijal

Also Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and asked him to talk to the JNU representatives.

As many as 26 students and teachers were injured when a group of masked people entered the campus and girls' hostels with sticks, rods and sledgehammers and vandalised the campus.

JNU Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh and professor Sucharita Sen were badly injured in the violence.

The injured including Ghosh were taken to AIIMS.

"I have been brutally attacked by masked men," Ghosh told media just after the attack took place.

While the Left has been blaming the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for the violence, the latter has alleged that the Leftists had only vandalised the campus.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Shah has already ordered an inquiry into the incident.

A tweet from HMO India reads, "Union Home Minister has spoken to Delhi Police Commissioner over JNU violence and instructed him to take necessary action. Hon’ble minister has also ordered an enquiry to be carried out by a Joint CP level officer and asked for a report to be submitted as soon as possible."

Students' protests were witnessed across the country last night protesting against the JNU violence.
