New Delhi/UNI: Janata Dal United (JDU) on Monday demanded a high-level probe in connection with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) violence.

Terming the attacks ''unfortunate and condemnable'', JDU’s Youth Wing National president Sanjay Kumar said, ''It’s not a good sign for the country. There should be no place for such kind of incidents at the educational institutions.''

Mr Kumar also raised questions on the University’s administration and said they have failed in discharging their duties.

He suggested the government to set a high-level investigation committee to probe the matter.

The JDU leader also demanded punishment to the guilty so that such incidents are not repeated.

Meanwhile, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal issued summons to the Delhi police in connection with the same.

While 23  injured have been released from AIIMS, some are still undergoing treatment.

Following the attack, security around the premier institute's campus has been tightened with heavy police deployment.
