New Delhi/IBNS: Refusing to stop their march towards the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students clashed with Delhi police at Shastri Bhavan here on Thursday, media reports said.

Following the clash, some of the protesting students were blocked and detained by police. The march had started at Mandi House.

The students are demanding the removal of the Vice Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar of JNU.

In a statement, JNU Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh, who was badly injured by a mob of masked men last Sunday, said, "We want the removal of the VC....We will only hold a dialogue after the removal of the VC."

The protesting students met the HRD officials but they were not satisfied by their responses.

Left leaders Sitaram Yechury, Brinda Karat and D Raja, Loktantrik Janata Dal leader Sharad Yadav and Congress leader Mukul Wasnik on Thursday joined the JNUSU protest march against the violent attack on the JNU campus to the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
