New Delhi, Apr 25 (IBNS):JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar has been fined Rs.10,000 by a university panel on grounds of "indiscipline", media reports said.

His friend Umar Khalid has been removed for a semester.

Khalid has been reportedly fined Rs. 20,000.

Both the students were arrested and then released on bail.

A Delhi court on Mar 18  granted six months interim bail to JNU students  Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya.

Both the students are facing sedition charges for allegedly shouting 'anti-national' slogans in February.

They were directed to furnish a bail bond of Rs 25,000 and an equal amount in surety by the court.

Both the students are accused of organizing an event to mark the death anniversary of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru where anti-India slogans were raised.

JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar earlier walked out of jail on an interim bail after being interned for three weeks on sedition charges.

Kanhaiya was arrested first after an event in the JNU campus where Afzal Guru's death anniversary was observed and anti-India slogans were allegedly raised.
