Srinagar, Apr 9 (UNI): An encounter has ensued between militants and security forces on Tuesday in the forest area at Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.

Official sources said that following specific information about presence of militants, a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police, Army and CRPF in Sofigund forest areas in Tral.

They said when security forces were moving towards a particular area, the militants hiding there, fired at them with automatic weapons.

The security forces retaliated, ensuing in an encounter, the sources said, adding two to three militants are believed to be present in the area.
