JK Ayush organises seminar on World Unani Day

Srinagar/IBNS: World Unani Day is celebrated acrossthe world on Feb 11 every year as the birth anniversary of social reformer and great Unani scholar, Hakim Ajmal Khan.

The day highlights the contribution of Khan in the development of Unani system of medicine in India and across the world.

World Unani Day also helps in creating consciousness among people about the healthcare delivery through Unani medicines.

To pay homages to Hakim Ajmal Khan, Directorate of AYUSH for J&K Dr. Mohan Singh Saturday organised a seminar to celebrate sixth World Unani Day at Directorate of Ayush, Jammu.

Singh was also the Chief Guest at the function.

Providing historical background of the World Unani Day Dr Mohan Singh said Hakim Ajmal Khan also known as 'Messiah e Hind' and the 'King without Crown' for his immense diagnostic knowledge and treatment therapies in Unani  Systems of Medicine.

Khan used to focus on establishing laboratories/ institutes for research to sustain the traditional systems of medicine which were once at the verge of extinction during the British colonial  rule.
