J&K: Alleged militants kill SPO in Anantnag, injured wife in hospital

Srinagar, Mar 30 (IBNS): A Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed and his wife injured in a terrorist attack in Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir, according to media reports on Friday.

According to local reports, terrorists barged into the SPO Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh's house at Katsoo in Bijbehara area of Anantnag on Thursday evening and opened fire on them. 

The SPO died on the spot while his wife is said to be recuperating in a hospital, according to media reports.

Incidentally, last Saturday, at least two terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, according to official reports.

In the process, huge cache of weapons, etc, including AK- 47 rifles, grenades, etc were recovered from the encounter site.
