Ranchi, June 24 (IBNS): In yet another incident of mob lynching, a Muslim man from Jharkhand was beaten up in Kharsawa district of the state over suspicion of theft and was also forced to chant "Jai Shree Ram" and "Jai Hanuman", media reports said.

The man later succumbed to injuries.

In a video which went viral, 24-year old Tabrez Ansari was seen being beaten up by one of the two men with a stick. Ansari was beaten up for over 18 hours till he was handed over to police on June 18. The victim was brought to hospital but died on June 22 after his health worsened.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged. Pappu Mandal, one of the accused, has been arrested after Ansari's death. Search is on for the other accused.

What was the incident?

Ansari, a welder and labourer in Pune, came to his village in Jharkhand's Kharsawan district to celebrate Eid with his family.

On June 18, he left for Jamshedpur with two men, who had fled midway and the accused attacked Ansari. The victim, however, had denied all charges and said the other two men were guilty.

Ansari's wedding was also arranged by his family during the visit to village.
