Jeweller Nirav Modi charged with Rs. 280 crore cheating case

New Delhi, Feb 5 (IBNS): Popular Jeweller Nirav Modi has been charged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with Rs. 280 crore cheating case, media reports said.

Modi is accused of cheating Rs 280 crore in connection to Punjab National Bank.

The CBI has filed an FIR against Modi, his brother Nishal, wife Ami and Mehul Chinubhai Chowski of Diamond R and Stellar Diamonds for criminal conspiracy.

Two bank officials are also charged with disputing their ranks leading to the bank's Rs. 280 crore loss.

The jeweller was raided on Jan 31.

Modi, a celebrity jeweller, has designer boutiques in several continents. In India, he has stores in Mumbai and Delhi.
