Chennai, Feb 24 (IBNS) : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister  E Palaniswami and Deputy CM O Panneerselvam unveiled the statue of former  CM Jayalalithaa at the AIADMK office on her 70th birth anniversary on Saturday.

According to reports, the  statue was placed near that of party founder M G Ramachandran.

Jayalalithaa, who died on December 5, 2016 following prolonged illness, had been the undisputed supreme leader of the AIADMK for long.  Her death shattered the party into factions, causing a fierce power struggle before the two main camps came to rapprochement and  Palaniswami assumed the office of the Chief Minister on February 16, 2017.
