Jaswant Singh's son Manvendra quits BJP

New Delhi, Sept 23 (IBNS): Ahead of the Rajasthan elections, Manvendra Singh, who is the son of Jaswant Singh and represents Sheo in the Assembly, has quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), media reports said.

He made the announcement at a “Swabhiman” rally in Rajasthan’s Barmer district.

Manvendra Singh said it was his mistake to join the BJP.

Asked if he would join the Congress party, he said the decision will be taken by the public and he would only listen to their verdict.

The Singh family’s relations with state Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje worsened after the BJP did not give Jaswant Singh a party ticket from Barmer-Jaisalmer in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier, Manvendra Singh was suspended from the BJP’s primary membership after he campaigned for his father instead of the party’s candidate.
