Srinagar, July 28 (IBNS): Eid-ul-Fitr, the Muslim festival which marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramadhan (fasting), would be observed across Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

The biggest prayer congregations would be held at the famed Hazratbal shrine, housing the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad on the outskirts of Srinagar and central mosque (Jamia Masjid) here, where tens of thousands of devotees are expected to participate in Eid prayers.

At Srinagar, the biggest Eid congregation would be held at the historic Eidgah in downtown city at 10.15 a.m. The Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, is expected to join tens of thousands of devotees to offer the special Eid prayers on the occasion.

Eid congregation would also be organized at the Dargah Asar-e-Sharif at Hazratbal where the special prayers have been scheduled at 11 a.m.

Elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure smooth conduct of the prayers. The administration has mobilized various departments and agencies to ensure adequate facilities to the devotees.

Public and private transport services would be available to ferry the people to and from the Eidgah. The Traffic Department will be regulating movement of vehicles on various routes. Security has also been beefed up all over the state to ensure peaceful celebrations of Eid.

On the occasion, Islamic scholars and clerics are expected to highlight the significance of the Eid-ul-Fitr as a thanksgiving for the month-long fasting when Muslims all over the world seek divine blessings and forgiveness.

Pertinently, Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in the Arab and Gulf countries and several parts of Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province on Monday where the Shawwal moon was in sight on Sunday
