| @indiablooms | Sep 13, 2023, at 11:26 pm

At least three senior officers of the Army and police were injured during an anti-militancy operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday, officials said.

They said the two army officers and a Deputy Superintendent of Police were injured during an encounter in a Kokarnag area which erupted when joint teams of forces were carrying a cordon and a search operation (CASO) in the area.

“As the cordon was being laid, the terrorists opened fire leading to the injuries to three officers,” officials said.

The injured have been airlifted to Army’s Srinagar based 92 hospital.

There is no report of any militant casualty so far.

Police said the officers from Army and J&K police were injured during the encounter. It, however, did not say as to how many officers were injured.

“Encounter has started in Kokernag area of Anantnag. Officers from Army and JKP injured...” Police said on X.

The operation in the area is underway and additional forces have been rushed to the area to flush out the militants.
