Jammu, Sep 16 (UNI/IBNS) At least three jawans suffered splinter injuries as Pakistan fired unprovoked and violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Pakistan Army late on Sunday night fired unprovoked and violated the truce along the LoC in Poonch in which three jawans suffered injuries," official sources here said on Monday.

They said that the ambush party was on patrol when Pakistan army opened fire due to which they received splinter injuries.

Meanwhile, Defence Spokesman said, "on Sunday night at about 2230 hours, Pak initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing of Small arms and intense shelling with Mortars in Balakote, Mendhar sector of District Poonch."

He added that Indian Army retaliated befittingly to the firing.

Pertinent to mention here that post Abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, Pakistan kept firing on the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch sectors.
