Jammu and Kashmir: Terrorists gun down jeweller after getting domicile certificate

Srinagar: A jeweller was shot dead by suspected terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar city after he received a certificate under the new domicile law, which allows people who have lived in the region for at least 15 years to own immovable property, media reports said.

65-year-old Kashmir-based Punjbai jeweller Satpal Nischal was originally belonging to Gurdaspur from Punjab.

He has been living in Jammu and Kashmir for the past 40 years.

He was killed on Thursday.

Nischal, the first person to be attacked by terrorists for allegedly acquiring the certificate under the new law, had suffered bullet injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital after the incident where he succumbed to his injuries, reports Times Now.

Pakistan-backed terror outfit  The Resistance Front claimed responsibility for the incident.
