Jammu and Kashmir: Srinagar demonstrates over atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh
Minority community members in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar city demonstrated on Sunday over the alleged targeting of minorities in the neighbouring Bangladesh ever since the former PM Sheikh Hasina-led government toppled on August 5.
Members belonging to the minority communities were seen holding placards during their demonstration.
A woman demonstrator told UNI: “A grave human rights violations are being committed with the members of minority communities by targeting their houses, tarnishing the honour and dignity of the women in Bangladesh."
She said that a memorandum has been sent to the President and the Prime Minister of India through Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha seeking an immediate halt to the violations in Bangladesh.
Another Sikh demonstrator told UNI that innocent children are being killed in Bangladesh.
He also appealed to the human rights agencies to awaken and take necessary action against the incidents happening against the minorities in Bangladesh.
The protestors urged the interim government in Bangladesh to bring out an amicable way to settle the issues to stop the innocent killings.
As a part of their demonstration, the protestors have also launched a signature campaign in solidarity with the victims of the community members of Bangladesh.
