Jammu and Kashmir: Rafting guide drowns during rafting in Pahalgam

Anantnag, Jun 1 (UNI) A rafting guide drowned during rafting in river Lidder in Pahalgam in this south Kashmir district on Friday evening, official sources said on Saturday morning.

They said guide Rauf Ahmad, a resident of central Kashmir district of Badgam drowned in Lidder due to heavy flow of water last evening. However, tourists in the rafting boat were rescued.

Later rescue operation was immediately launched by different agencies despite darkness. The body has been recovered after several hours of struggle, they said.

Police have registered a case and initiated proceedings.
