Anantnag/UNI: A major incident was averted on Friday in South Kashmir's Anantnag district when a bomb disposal squad diffused an improvised explosive device (IED).

The IED was detected by security forces in the district, official sources said.

The bomb disposal squad diffused the IED, they said.

According to them, a team from Police Station Achabal along with soldiers belonging to 19 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel from 164 Battalion detected the IED on Achabal- Kokernag Road.

A case has been registered by the police against 'unknown persons' and probe has been started, the sources added.
