Jammu and Kashmir: Encounter going on between security forces, terrorists in Shopian

Srinagar: An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday, police said.

They said the gunfight erupted at Check Cholan area of the district when joint teams of security forces cordoned the area following an input about militant presence.

Police said the operation is in progress.

Sources told UNI two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

Kashmir Zone Police tweeted: " #Encounter has started at Check Cholan area of #Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice."
