Srinagar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was killed and another was wounded in a militant attack in Srinagar's city centre on Monday afternoon, officials said.

They said militants fired at CRPF personnel in Maisuama area.

"Two CRPF men were injured in firing and they were shifted to the hospital for treatment. One of the injured CRPF men succumbed to his injuries," an official told UNI.

Soon after the shooting, joint forces launched a hunt to nab the attackers.

This was the second militant attack of the day.

Earlier, two non-local labourers from Bihar were shot and injured in Kashmir's Pulwama district.

Police has not issued any statement on the twin attacks.
