Jammu and Kashmir Crime: PDD linemen on duty assaulted

Jammu, Jun 26 (UNI) Two linemen of Power Development Department, who were repairing a snag on Wednesday landed into hospital, after beaten by a man in Nagrota area here on city outskirts.

Two of the linemen were working this afternoon in Bantalab area of Nagrota to restore power supply, Anil Slathia, PDD Linemen Union leader here said.


He said that the linemen found branches of a tree touching hanging on LT wires and asked the owner, on whose land, the tree was, to cut it but he refused following which, they started cutting it.


Slathia said that the land owner, mercilessly beaten the linemen and hit one of them on his head resulting into serious injuries.


"They were rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital where On Ground lineman namely Naresh Kumar, who suffered a head injury was unconscious while another daily wager Mohammad Latif was also under treatment," he said.
