Jammu and Kashmir: Class 12 topper trolled for not wearing 'hijab'

Srinagar: A class 12 topper in the science stream from Jammu and Kashmir UT recently faced online trolls for not wearing a 'hijab'.

Giving a reply to those to trolled her, Aroosa Parvaiz, a resident of Srinagar, said she follows Islamic principles and doesn't need to wear a hijab to prove herself a good Muslim.

Speaking to India Today, Aroosa Parvaiz said, "I have belief in Allah and follow Islamic principles. I don't need to wear a hijab to prove myself a good Muslim."

"I am not bothered by it but my parents are very worried after these comments on social media," she said.

The incident occured in Jammu and Kashmir, a Muslim majority region of the country, at a time when a row continued over wearing hijab in high school and college campuses in certain parts of Karnataka.
