J & K policeman killed in encounter with militants

Srinagar, Nov 16 (IBNS) : A policeman was killed in a fierce gun-battle with suspected militants in north Kashmir's Sopore town early on Wednesday, officials said.

According to reports, following a tip-off,  security forces launched search operation in the  Zaloora area  Sopore under Baramulla district  find the

militants.

“As our men reached the spot, the militants started firing on them and fled away. The firing resulted in the death of our man," a senior police
official told IBNS.

Th slain policeman was identified as Mohammad Shafi of the  Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police.

He was  a resident of Kulgam of south Kashmir.

Police continues the search operation to  trap the militants.
