IT officials seize Rs 2 crore in a hotel room of RDPR Engineer Narayanagouda B Patil

Bengaluru, Mar 15 (UNI) Acting on a tip-off the Income Tax sleuths conducted a raid on a Hotel room located in the central business district, and recovered over Rs 2 crore, allegedly stashed by a Engineer working in the Rural Development and Panchayath Raj (RDPR) on Friday.

According to official sources, the IT officials arrested car driver of the Engineer Narayanagouda Patil, who escaped during the raid. The IT officials, who had conducted simultaneous raid on his residence in Haveri town, have seized cash of over Rs 25 lakh and discriminating documents.

The engineer, was indulged in collecting the money as bribe from the contractors, who were awarded tender for works being done by the RDPR department, the sources, said.

Strongly reacting on the recovering of the huge cash from a Hotel room, the BJP State General Secretary and Lok Sabha member Shobha Kharandlje demanded resignation of RDPR Minister Krishna Byregowda owning moral responsibility.
BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa, in a statement, also charged that the officials are being used to collect election fund by the Ministers.

However, the Krishna Byregowda, strongly refuting the charges, said that “the IT officials are doing their job and it should not be attributed to any individual. The BJP leaders are notoriously known for collecting funds from illegal means.”
