INX Media case: P Chidambaram in Tihar jail, ED arrests him

| @indiablooms | Oct 16, 2019, at 04:19 pm

New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI/IBNS) Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram , who is already lodged in maximum security Tihar prison here, was on Wednesday arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the investigation into the INX Media case.

This development came after the court allowed the probe agency to quiz and arrest Chidamabaram, if required.

The ED had sought permission of the court to question the former Finance Minister.

The ED officials reached the Tihar jail in the morning and questioned Chidambaram, following which they arrested him.

The ED will now seek fresh custody of Chidambaram from the court.

His judicial custody was ordered by the court after his arrest by the CBI in August.
