Indian President Droupadi Murmu conferred with Timor Leste's highest civilian honour

Indian President Droupadi Murmu was recently conferred with the  Grand-Collar of the Order of Timor-Leste.

It is the highest civilian honour in the country.

Sharing the pictures of the event, the official President of India's X page wrote: " President José Ramos-Horta of Timor-Leste conferred the Grand-Collar of the Order of Timor-Leste, the country's highest civilian award, upon President Droupadi Murmu. The award is in recognition of her achievements in public service and dedication to education, social welfare and empowerment of women. President Murmu said that the honour is a reflection of the ties of friendship between India and Timor-Leste."

Murmu arrived in the country after concluding her official visits to  Fiji and New Zealand.

Meanwhile, Murmu has concluded her three-country tour and arrived in New Delhi.

After arriving in India, the official X page of the president said: " President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Delhi after completing her State visits to Fiji, New Zealand, and Timor-Leste."

Reacting to the president receiving the honour, Indian PM Narendra Modi posted on X: "It is a proud moment for us to see Rashtrapati Ji being honoured with the Grand-Collar of the Order of Timor-Leste, the nation’s highest civilian award."

He said the event showed the strong ties shared between two countries.

"This reflects the strong ties and mutual respect between our countries. It is also a recognition of her monumental contribution to public life for several years," he said.
