An Indian-origin student, who was studying at the University of Calgary, has died in Canada, officials said on Friday.

The student was identified as Tanya Tyagi.

The cause and circumstances which led to her demise is still not clear.

The Indian Consulate in Vancouver said: "We are saddened by the sudden demise of Ms. Tanya Tyagi, an Indian student at University of Calgary."

"The Consulate is in touch with the authorities and will provide all required assistance to the bereaved family," the consulate wrote on X.

"Our heartfelt condolences & prayers are with his family & friends of the deceased," it said.

In March, an Indian-origin 20-year-old University of Pittsburgh student, Sudiksha Konanki, went missing while on a spring break trip in the Dominican Republic.

She was last seen on March 6 on a beach, located close to the hotel, where she was staying with friends.

Loudoun County, Virginia Sheriff Mike Chapman has called on authorities in the Dominican Republic to share all evidence related to Sudiksha Konanki‘s case, reported News Nation.
