Kottayam (Kerala)/IBNS: An Indian-origin nurse from Kerala and her two young children, living in Kettering in the Northampton region of eastern England, died of grievous injuries on Thursday. The woman’s parents have now alleged that her husband was a "cruel" man and he beat their daughter regularly, media reported.

Anju Asok (35) and her children, a boy aged 6 years and a girl of 4 years, were found with severe injuries at their home, said reports.

While Asok died at the scene, the children succumbed to injuries in the hospital, police said.

Speaking to the media at their home in the Vaikom area of the Kottayam district of Kerala, Asok's mother alleged that her son-in-law is a "cruel" person and she has witnessed him hitting her daughter and grandson when the couple was living in Saudi Arabia.

To add to their tragedy, they need Rs 30 lakh, an amount beyond their means, to bring the bodies back to India to see their daughter and grandkids for one last time.

Expressing their helplessness, Asok’s father said he is left with 13 cents of land and a house where he lives with his wife after losing everything in the 2018 Kerala floods.

He cannot sell the house, where he lives with his ailing wife and hoped that people would help him to bring the bodies to India from the UK.
