Indian origin man shot during Christchurch mosques attacks, claims Asaduddin Owaisi

Christchurch, Mar 15 (IBNS): An Indian origin man was shot in the Christchurch mosques attacks incidents which left New Zealand shocked on Friday.

As per Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party,  the man has been identified as Ahmed Jehangir.

Owaisi urged Indian government to help the family.

He tweeted details of the person and said: "A video from #ChristChurch shows one Ahmed Jehangir who was shot. His brother Iqbal Jehangir is a resident of Hyderabad & would like to go to NZ for Ahmed’s family. I request @KTRTRS @TelanganaCMO @MEAIndia @SushmaSwaraj to make necessary arrangements for the Khursheed family."

At least 49 people have died in New Zealand's worst terror attack in which gunmen stormed two city mosques on Friday and opened fire, New Zealand's top cop Mark Bush said.

Briefing the media in Wellington, police chief Bush said: "At the Deans Avenue mosque, we now know that 41 people have lost their lives. And at Linwood Avenue, seven have lost their lives."

More than 40 have been injured and one of them has succumbed to injuries. Consequently, the death toll in this attack stands at 49.
