New Delhi, Dec 27 (IBNS): In a move which can trigger trouble, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Tuesday named Commonwealth Games scam accused Suresh Kalmadi as its lifetime patron in the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The AGM has also named Abhay Singh Chautala as its president.

Kalmadi served as IOA president from 1996 to 2011.

He was then involved in the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games corruption scandal and was jailed for 10 months.

Kalmadi was later released on bail.

Speaking about the appointment, Sports Minister Vijay Goel said that the appointment was a serious issue.

"I will look into it. It is a serious issue," Goel was quoted as saying by NDTV.
