Indian doctor, kidnapped in Libya 18 months ago, rescued: Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi, Feb 22 (IBNS) : Ramamurthy Kosanam, an Indian doctor who was kidnapped by ISIS militants in Libya 18 months ago, has been rescued, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, on Tuesday night.

Dr.Ramamurthy Kosanam, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, is being brought back to India shortly.

"We have rescued Dr.Ramamurthy Kosanam in Libya. Dr.Kosanam has suffered a bullet injury. We are bringing him to India shortly," Swaraj said in her tweet.

Dr Ramamurthy was reportedly abducted by Islamic State militants  on September 8, 2015.

He was working in Libiya  as a physician in the Lbn-e-Sina Hospital at Sirte in Libya
