Indian Army rubbishes Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement leader Shehla Rashid's claims

| @indiablooms | Aug 19, 2019, at 04:23 pm

Srinagar, Aug 19 (IBNS): The Indian Army has rejected as "baseless" claims made by Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement leader Shehla Rashid on the situation in the state, media reports said.

"Allegations levelled by Shehla Rashid are baseless and rejected. Such unverified and fake news are spread by inimical elements and organisations to incite unsuspecting population," the Army was quoted by India Today.

Shehla on Sunday tweeted: "People are saying that J&K Police has no authority on law & order situation. They've been rendered powerless. Everything is in the hands of paramilitary forces. One SHO was transferred on complaint of a CRPF man. SHOs carrying batons. Service revolvers can't be seen on them."

"Armed forces are entering houses at night, picking up boys, ransacking houses, deliberately spilling rations on the floor, mixing oil with rice, etc," she said.

Meanwhile, Supreme Court lawyer  Alakh Alok Srivastava has filed a complaint against the Kashmiri politician.

In his complaint, Srivastava is seeking Rashid’s arrest for allegedly spreading fake news against the Indian Army and Government of India, reported India Today.

The complaint also said that the Rashid had intended to excite disaffection towards the Government of Indiam which is prima facie an offence of Sedition under Section 124-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), reported the magazine.
