Indian Army pays tribute to late Major Purushottam

Udhampur, Aug 19 (IBNS) The Indian Army paid tribute to late Major Pramod Purushottam here on Wednesday.

Major Purushottam had lost his life during the terrorist attack of November 1999 at BB Cantonment. He had saved the lives of three Kashmiri journalist.

The Indian Army also unveiled a trophy in honour of the martyr.

It will be presented to the best performing Army Goodwill School in each academic year.

The trophy was unveiled by Lt Gen Subrata Saha, 15 Corps Commander in a ceremony at Ziran Army Camp. Vasla Purushottam, wife of the late Major, the Guest of Honour, presented the trophy to Army Goodwill School, Wuzur, which was adjudged the best for the ongoing year.

Speaking at the event the lady shared her fond memories of her late husband and his love for Kashmir and its people.

Lt Gen Saha expressed his gratitude and shared incidents about the late Major Purushottam.

The event was attended by other army officials and principals of the Army Goodwill Schools.
