India test-fires long-range missile Barak-8,developed with Israel

Chandipur-on-Sea,Odisha, Sept 20 (IBNS) : India on Tuesday test-fired a new long -range surface-to-air missile (MRSAM) Barak-8 from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur-on-sea, on the Odisha coast, media reports said.

The 4.5-meter long ballistic missile weighs around 270 kg and can carry a payload of 60 kg.

It is capable of hitting t the target within a range of 70 km and it can deploy in sensitive Air Force stations.

The missile is a product of the joint development between India's Research Centre Imarat (RCI) and Israel's Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
