India Assembly Poll Results: Early Reactions pour in
New Delhi, Dec 11 (IBNS): In a major setback to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress has upset the saffron applecart in Chhattisgarh and has taken a good lead over them in Rajasthan while in a neck and neck battle in Madhya Pradesh.
It was a sea-saw affair in MP where the figures kept changing with the BJP frist trailing and then taking a lead when the Congress almost started celebrating.. Then again it was Congress at 111 and BJP at 107 around noon.
Rajasthan at 1130 am witnessed Congress leading in 95 seats against the BJP in 80.
In Telangana on the other hand, as predicted, a landslide victory was witnessed for the ruling TRS led by the chief minister of the state, K Chandrasekhar Rao.
In Mizoram, the MNF is ahead in 29 seats against 6 of Congress and one of the BJP.
We bring you some initial reactions:
Sachin Pilot, Congress leader, Rajasthan: I think the BJP and Vasundhara Raja have failed to live up to the expectations of the people. It is a betrayal of their trust.
Congress leader and CM aspirant, Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot: We are going to get majority, no question about it.
Telangana Chief Minister KCR's daughter and parliamentarian K Kavitha: The hard work has paid off. We are seeing the response of the people. Nobody knows Telangana like KCR."
BJP spokesperson Shaina NC: Despite ruling for 15 years, in Madhya Pradesh we have done great under the leadership of Shivraj-ji and PM Modi. Chhattisgarh is disappointment though.
