India asks its diplomats to withdraw their kids from Islamabad schools
New Delhi, July 25 (IBNS): Amid ongoing tensions with Pakistan over the Kashmir issue, India on Monday asked its diplomats and other officials to withdraw their kids from local schools in Islamabad.
"It is a normal practice for all countries to review staffing and related policies for their diplomatic missions, including in view of prevailing circumstances at those stations," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.
"With effect from this academic session, officials posted in the High Commission of India in Islamabad have been advised to make arrangements for education of their wards outside Pakistan, till further notice," he directed.
At present, about 50 children of Indian officials are studying in Islamabad's American School.
India recently condemned Pakistan's move to observe Black Day on July 20 over the death of militant leader Burhan Wani and asked the neighbouring nation to stop inciting and supporting violence and terrorism in any part of India.
Pakistan on July 10 condemned the killing of top Hizb Commander Burhan Wani in Jammu and Kashmir by Indian security forces.
