If 30 pc Muslims unite in India, four Pakistans can be formed: Bengal TMC leader Sheikh Alam
Kolkata/IBNS: Days ahead of the West Bengal assembly election, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader from Birbhum's Nanur, Sheikh Alam, has landed in a controversy after he said- "If 30 per cent of India's minority population unite, four Pakistans can be formed"- during a public rally in Nanur's Basapara area on Wednesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, the BJP had held a rally in the area, and TMC arranged a counter-rally on Wednesday where the incident happened.
"They (BJP) are thinking to come to power with the support of the 70 per cent, they should be ashamed. We are 30 per cent and if our Muslim population of 30 per cent come together, four Pakistans can be formed! Then where will the 70 per cent of the population will go?" Sheikh Alam was seen making the remark in a video.
"We, the minorities, are integral parts of the state as well as the country. Their (BJP's) proposed 'Sonar Bangla' can never be built without us," the TMC leader added.
Reacting on the matter, BJP's IT in-charge Amit Malvyia wrote on Twitter: "TMC leaders like Sheikh Alam have the audacity to dream of 4 Pakistan because of Mamata Banerjee’s brazen appeasement politics over the last 10 years. She reduced the majority community in WB to second grade citizens, where they had to seek court approval even for Durga visarjan!"
